The Grand Opening of MDCU International Village: A Brand-New Facility Enhancing the Internationalization of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University

The Division of International Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, proudly organized the Grand Opening of MDCU International Village at the M Floor, Aor Por Ror Building, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. Assoc. Prof. Chanchai Sittipunt (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University) delivered the opening speech, and it was an honor to welcome distinguished guests from various embassies and organizations to the Grand Opening Ceremony, including H.E. Millicent Cruz Paredes (Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Thailand), Mr. Sanjeev Chowdhury (Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Canada to Thailand), Prof. Dr. Huiju Carrie Chen (Associate Dean of Assessment and Educational Scholarship, Georgetown University School of Medicine, USA), Prof. Thanakorn Jirasevijinda (Professor, Weill Cornell Medicine, USA), Prof. Dr. Kaywalee Chatdarong (Vice President for Strategic Planning, Innovation, and Global Engagement, Chulalongkorn University), Dr. Ram Piyaket (Director, Office of International Affairs and Global Network, Chulalongkorn University), as well as representatives from the Embassy of Malaysia to Thailand, British Council Thailand, Language Institute of Chulalongkorn University, and the executive team of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. The event was also attended by current undergraduate and graduate students, along with international exchange students.

The agenda of the grand opening included a brief overview of MDCU International Village by Assoc. Prof. Naricha Chirakalwasan (Associate Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University), an English Coaching Clinic by Mr. Paul Hatton (Manager, MDCU International Village), MDCU International Village Activities presented by Dr. Parit Mekaroonkamol (Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University) and Mr. Paul Hatton (Manager, MDCU International Village), a cross-cultural performance by current medical students of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, and international exchange students. The closing remarks were delivered by Prof. Unnop Jaisamrarn (Senior Executive Advisor for International Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University).

Operated by the Division of International Affairs, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, the MDCU International Village serves as a hub for enhancing internationalization within the Faculty, promoting an English and foreign language-speaking environment. It also serves as a venue for organizing academic activities between the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, and foreign institutions, as well as activities that foster intercultural competencies among students, academic staff, and international students. The MDCU International Village is open from Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) (except on Thai public holidays) and is located at M Floor, Aor Por Ror Building.
