MDCU and Weill Cornell Medicine Strengthen Global Alliance in Medical Education and Research
BANGKOK, THAILAND – The Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University (MDCU), as the only academic institution in Thailand included in Cornell Global hub, welcomed Prof. Michael G. Stewart, Senior Associate Dean for International Affairs and Affiliations and Prof. Thanakorn Jirasevijinda, MD from Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University during his official visit to Thailand in February 2026, marking a significant milestone in their 18-year strategic partnership. The visit aimed to further strengthen long-standing collaboration in medical education, research, and global academic networking.
During the visit on February 10–11, 2026, Professor Stewart engaged in strategic meetings with Assoc. Prof. Jiruth Sriratanaban, MD, PhD, Dean of MDCU, and the university’s executive team led by President Prof. Wilert Puriwat, PhD. The discussions focused on expanding joint academic initiatives, digital learning platforms, medical education, and global academic partnerships.
Prof. Stewart visited School of Global Health, hosted by Prof. Kiat Ruxrungtham, MD Director, School of Global Health, Prof. Nijasri C. Suwanwela, MD, Associate Dean for Academic Services & International Education and Director of Chulalongkorn University International Medical Program (CU-MEDi), and Prof. Naricha Chirakalwasan, Associate Dean for International Affairs. After a fruitful strategic planning, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to regional leadership by exploring co-created courses, joint research initiatives, and capacity-building programs desinged to strengthen healthcare workforce across Southeast Asia. By integrating MDCU’s clinical excellence with Weill Cornell’s global strategy, the partnership continues to define the future of international medical education.
During the visit, Professor Stewart also joined the “Small Talk” activity at the International Village, hosted by Prof. Naricha Chirakalwasan, Associate Dean for International Affairs and Assoc. Prof. Parit Mekaroonkamol, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, where international medical students and residents from the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, China, and Japan exchanged views on clinical rotations, cross-cultural experiences and perspectives.
This visit reflects the shared vision of both institutions to advance global medical education and research collaboration, strengthen regional academic leadership, and contribute to improving healthcare systems worldwide.

MDCU สร้างความร่วมมือด้านแพทยศาสตร์ศึกษาและการวิจัยระดับโลก ระหว่างประเทศไทยและสหรัฐอเมริกา
คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในฐานะสถาบันการศึกษาเพียงแห่งเดียวในประเทศไทยที่ได้รับคัดเลือกให้อยู่ในเครือข่าย Cornell Global Hub ให้การต้อนรับ Professor Michael G. Stewart รองคณบดีอาวุโสฝ่ายความร่วมมือและพันธมิตรระหว่างประเทศ (Senior Associate Dean for International Affairs and Affiliations) และ Prof. Thanakorn Jirasevijinda จาก Weill Cornell Medicine Cornell University สหรัฐอเมริกา ในโอกาสเดินทางเยือนประเทศไทยอย่างเป็นทางการ เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์และเฉลิมฉลองวาระครบรอบ 18 ปีแห่งพันธมิตรทางยุทธศาสตร์ โดยมุ่งเน้นการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือด้านแพทยศาสตร์ศึกษาการวิจัย และเครือข่ายวิชาการระดับนานาชาติให้แข็งแกร่งยิ่งขึ้น
เมื่อวันที่ 10-11 กุมภาพันธ์ 2569 Professor Stewart ได้เข้าร่วมประชุมเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ร่วมกับ ศ.ดร.วิเลิศ ภูริวัชร อธิการบดี จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย พร้อมด้วย รศ.ดร.นพ.จิรุตม์ ศรีรัตนบัลล์ คณบดี คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และผู้อำนวยการโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย และคณะผู้บริหาร เพื่อหารือแนวทางการขยายโครงการวิชาการร่วมกัน การพัฒนาแพลตฟอร์มการเรียนรู้ดิจิทัล และการสร้างพันธมิตรทางการศึกษาระดับนานาชาติ
นอกจากนี้ Professor Stewart ยังได้เข้าเยี่ยมชมสำนักบริหารวิชาการสุขภาพโลก (School of Global Health) คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย โดยมี ศ.นพ.เกียรติ รักษ์รุ่งธรรม ผู้อำนวยการสำนักบริหารวิชาการสุขภาพโลก, ศ.พญ.นิจศรี ชาญณรงค์ รองคณบดีด้านการบริการวิชาการและการศึกษานานาชาติ และผู้อำนวยการหลักสูตรแพทยศาสตรบัณฑิตนานาชาติ (CU-MEDi) พร้อมด้วย ศ.พญ.นฤชา จิรกาลวสาน รองคณบดีด้านวิรัชกิจ ให้การต้อนรับ โดยทั้งสองสถาบันได้ยืนยันความมุ่งมั่นในการเป็นผู้นำระดับภูมิภาค ผ่านการร่วมพัฒนาหลักสูตร การวิจัยร่วม และโครงการเสริมสร้างศักยภาพเพื่อพัฒนาบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ ผ่านการผสานความเป็นเลิศทางคลินิกของ MDCU เข้ากับยุทธศาสตร์ระดับโลกของ Weill Cornell
ในโอกาสนี้ Professor Stewart ยังได้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรม “Small Talk” ณ International Village ซึ่งดำเนินงานโดย ศ.พญ.นฤชา จิรกาลวสาน รองคณบดีด้านวิรัชกิจ และ รศ.นพ.ภาฤทธิ์ เมฆอรุณกมล ผู้ช่วยคณบดีด้านวิรัชกิจ เพื่อเป็นพื้นที่ให้นิสิตแพทย์และนักศึกษาแพทย์นานาชาติ อาทิ จากสหราชอาณาจักร เยอรมนี สหรัฐอเมริกา จีน และญี่ปุ่น ได้แลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองด้านการฝึกปฏิบัติงานทางคลินิกและประสบการณ์ทางวัฒนธรรม เพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะการเป็นพลเมืองโลกให้กับบุคลากรทางการแพทย์รุ่นใหม่
วิสัยทัศน์สู่อนาคต: นวัตกรรมดิจิทัลและความร่วมมือระดับภูมิภาค
Professor Stewart ได้นำเสนอแนวทางยุทธศาสตร์ความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศของ Weill Cornell Medicine ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือกับสถาบันพันธมิตรทั่วโลก เพื่อสนับสนุนการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวิชาการ การวิจัยร่วม และนวัตกรรมด้านการศึกษาแพทยศาสตร์ รวมถึงโอกาสความร่วมมือด้านแพลตฟอร์มการเรียนรู้ดิจิทัล เครือข่ายพันธมิตรด้านการศึกษา และการพัฒนาหลักสูตรร่วม
ทั้งสองสถาบันยังได้หารือแนวทางการขยายความร่วมมือสู่ระดับภูมิภาค อาทิ การร่วมพัฒนาหลักสูตร การวิจัยร่วม การพัฒนาการเรียนรู้ดิจิทัล และโครงการพัฒนาศักยภาพบุคลากรด้านสุขภาพในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้และประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน
การเยือนในครั้งนี้สะท้อนวิสัยทัศน์ร่วมกันของทั้งสองสถาบันในการขับเคลื่อนการศึกษาและการวิจัยทางการแพทย์ในระดับสากล เสริมสร้างความเป็นผู้นำทางวิชาการระดับภูมิภาค และร่วมกันพัฒนาระบบสุขภาพเพื่อประโยชน์ของประชาคมโลก
