MDCU and KCMH Welcome Delegation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Renji Hospital to Advance International Collaboration

The Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University (MDCU), and King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (KCMH) had the honor of welcoming a distinguished delegation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) and Renji Hospital, the People’s Republic of China, together with representatives from Mindray. The visit marked an important step toward deepening academic and clinical partnerships between two of Asia’s leading medical institutions.
The delegation was led by Dr. Wang Chunming, Director of the International Affairs Office at SJTUSM and Director of the Smart Healthcare Development Division at Renji Hospital. The visitors were warmly received by Assoc. Prof. Jiruth Sriratanaban, MD, MBA, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, and Director of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, together with senior members of the Faculty’s executive team and hospital leadership, including:

A Shared Vision for Smart Healthcare and Research Excellence
During the meeting, Dr. Wang Chunming presented the remarkable development of Renji Hospital — one of the largest affiliated hospitals of SJTUSM and the first Western medicine hospital established in Shanghai — with particular emphasis on its pioneering achievements in smart healthcare, digital innovation, and critical care services.
In turn, MDCU representatives showcased the Faculty’s strengths in research and innovation, including the Clinical Research Center, graduate education, international academic programs, and ongoing initiatives in digital transformation and integrated medical technologies. The exchange revealed a strong alignment of priorities and a shared commitment to advancing medical education, research excellence, and innovative patient care through international collaboration.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of key clinical and research facilities at MDCU and KCMH, including the Proton Therapy Center, the Operating Theatre Complex, Chakrabongse Building, the Administrative Building, and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit — offering the delegation a first-hand view of the institutions’ world-class capabilities in patient care and medical infrastructure.
Both sides expressed a firm intention to translate this momentum into concrete collaboration, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and the establishment of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, as well as between King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and Renji Hospital.

ในการประชุม Dr. Wang Chunming ได้นำเสนอพัฒนาการและความก้าวหน้าของ Renji Hospital ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในโรงพยาบาลขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในสังกัด Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine และเป็นโรงพยาบาลเวชศาสตร์ตะวันตกแห่งแรกของนครเซี่ยงไฮ้ โดยเน้นย้ำถึงความสำเร็จอันโดดเด่นด้านการประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล ระบบ Smart Healthcare และการพัฒนาการดูแลผู้ป่วยวิกฤต
ในโอกาสเดียวกัน ผู้บริหารของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาฯ ได้ร่วมนำเสนอศักยภาพของคณะฯ ด้านการวิจัยและนวัตกรรม อาทิ ศูนย์วิจัยทางคลินิก (Clinical Research Center) การศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา หลักสูตรนานาชาติ ตลอดจนการขับเคลื่อนการเปลี่ยนผ่านสู่ดิจิทัลและการบูรณาการเทคโนโลยีทางการแพทย์ การหารือครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงเจตนารมณ์ร่วมกันของทั้งสองสถาบันในการยกระดับการศึกษาแพทยศาสตร์ ความเป็นเลิศด้านการวิจัย และนวัตกรรมการดูแลผู้ป่วย ผ่านความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติ
เยี่ยมชมศักยภาพของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาฯ และโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์
ภายหลังการประชุม คณะผู้แทนได้เยี่ยมชมศูนย์โปรตอนเพื่อการรักษา (Proton Therapy Center) ศูนย์ผ่าตัด อาคารจักรพงษ์ อาคารบริหาร และหอผู้ป่วยวิกฤตศัลยกรรม (Surgical Intensive Care Unit) เพื่อเรียนรู้ศักยภาพด้านการรักษาพยาบาลและโครงสร้างพื้นฐานของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาฯ และโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย ทั้งสองสถาบันสนใจที่จะสานต่อความร่วมมืออย่างเป็นรูปธรรม อาทิ การแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาและบุคลากร การดำเนินโครงการวิจัยร่วม ตลอดจนการจัดทำข้อตกลงความร่วมมือ (Memorandum of Understanding: MoU) ระหว่างคณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย กับ Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine และระหว่างโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย กับ Renji Hospital ในอนาคต
