MDCU and FAIMER Forge Strategic Alliance to Advance Global Medical Education Standards
Bangkok, Thailand – February 12, 2026 The Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, today formalized an important step in strengthening global collaboration in medical education through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research).
The MoU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Jiruth Sriratanaban, MD, MBA, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, and Dr. Lyuba Konopasek, MD, Senior Vice President, Intealth and FAIMER Executive Director.
Dr. Lyuba was accompanied by Dr. Eric S. Holmboe, Chief Executive Officer of Intealth, as part of the official delegation visit the ceremony was followed by a collaborative discussion focused on advancing medical education capacity, faculty development, and international partnership. The signing ceremony and discussion were held on February 12, 2026, at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.
Strengthening Global Capacity in Medical Education The Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University (MDCU), has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) and Intealth, marking a transformative step in international medical education and research collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Jiruth Sriratanaban, MD, PhD, Dean of MDCU, and Dr. Lyuba Konopasek, MD, Senior Vice President of Intealth and Executive Director of FAIMER. The ceremony, attended by Dr. Eric S. Holmboe, MD, CEO of Intealth, Prof. Unnop Jaisamrarn, MD, MHS, Senior Executive Advisor for International Affairs, Prof. Naricha Chirakalwasan, MD, Associate Dean for International Affairs, Prof. Nijasri C. Suwanwela, MD, Associate Dean for Academic Services & International Education, Prof. Nattiya Hirankarn, MD, PhD, Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Parit Mekaroonkamol, MD, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Prof. Taninee Sahakitrungruang, MD, Assistant Dean for Graduate Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Nasamon Wanlapakorn, MD, PhD, Assistant Dean for Academic Services & International Education, focused on strengthening faculty development and expanding global academic networks.
During the meeting, FAIMER representatives shared their global mission in strengthening health professions education through four key pillars, including faculty development, research enterprise, institutional partnerships, and global education networks. FAIMER’s flagship three-year fellowship programs, implemented across multiple regions including India, China, Egypt, and Uganda, were highlighted as important platforms for developing educational leaders and strengthening training systems worldwide.
The discussion also highlighted FAIMER’s work in supporting international medical graduates and developing Training-of-Trainers models, working closely with local institutions to build sustainable education ecosystems.
Advancing Innovation in Education and Digital Transformation Faculty leaders from Chulalongkorn University shared ongoing initiatives under international and academic service platforms, including AI-driven education, online learning platforms, and digital global education models. The integration of artificial intelligence into learning modalities and digital platforms was recognized as a promising direction for scaling high-quality medical education globally.
Both institutions reaffirmed a shared belief that high-quality medical education directly contributes to improved patient care outcomes. The partnership promisingly aims to expand collaboration across undergraduate, postgraduate, and international development programs.
“This partnership with FAIMER is a crucial mechanism for aligning Thai medical education with global standards,” noted the Dean. “By integrating innovation with international expertise, we are shaping the future of the healthcare workforce in Southeast Asia and beyond.”

กรุงเทพมหานคร – 12 กุมภาพันธ์ 2569 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย (MDCU) ประกาศความร่วมมือครั้งสำคัญระดับนานาชาติ ผ่านพิธีลงนามบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือ (MoU) กับ FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) และ Intealth เพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานการศึกษาแพทยศาสตร์และการพัฒนาบุคลากรทางการแพทย์สู่ระดับสากล
บันทึกข้อตกลงดังกล่าวลงนามโดย รศ.ดร.นพ.จิรุตม์ ศรีรัตนบัลล์ คณบดี คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และ Dr. Lyuba Konopasek Senior Vice President, Intealth และ Executive Director ของ FAIMER โดยมี Dr. Eric S. ผู้แทนจาก FAIMER ได้นำเสนอพันธกิจในการพัฒนาการศึกษาแพทยศาสตร์ผ่าน 4 เสาหลักสำคัญ ได้แก่ การพัฒนาอาจารย์แพทย์ งานวิจัยด้านการศึกษา ความร่วมมือระดับสถาบัน และเครือข่ายการศึกษาระดับนานาชาติ โดยเฉพาะโครงการ Fellowship ระยะเวลา 3 ปี ที่ดำเนินการในหลายภูมิภาค เช่น อินเดีย จีน อียิปต์ และยูกันดา ซึ่งมีบทบาทสำคัญในการพัฒนาผู้นำด้านการศึกษาแพทยศาสตร์ทั่วโลก นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการแลกเปลี่ยนแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับการสนับสนุนแพทย์ผู้สำเร็จการศึกษาและการพัฒนาระบบ Training-of-Trainers โดยทำงานร่วมกับองค์กรท้องถิ่นเพื่อสร้างระบบการศึกษาที่ยั่งยืน
การขับเคลื่อนนวัตกรรมการศึกษาและการเรียนรู้ดิจิทัล
คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ได้นำเสนอความก้าวหน้าด้านการพัฒนาการศึกษานานาชาติ การเรียนรู้ผ่านแพลตฟอร์มออนไลน์ และการประยุกต์ใช้ AI ในการศึกษาแพทยศาสตร์ ซึ่งเป็นแนวโน้มสำคัญของการศึกษาระดับโลกในอนาคต การสนับสนุนจาก FAIMER จะช่วยเสริมสร้างศักยภาพด้านบุคลากรทางการศึกษา โดยเฉพาะแนวทาง Training-of-Trainers ที่ช่วยขยายจำนวนอาจารย์แพทย์ที่มีคุณภาพ รวมถึงการพัฒนาแนวทางการสอน วิธีการประเมินผล และระบบการศึกษาที่มุ่งเน้นผลลัพธ์การเรียนรู้
ชูวิสัยทัศน์ “คุณภาพการศึกษา เพื่อผลลัพธ์การรักษาที่ดีกว่า” ทั้งสองสถาบันได้หารือเชิงลึกในประเด็นยุทธศาสตร์ 3 ด้านหลัก
- Global Capacity Building: การประยุกต์ใช้โมเดล Fellowship และ Training-of-Trainers เพื่อสร้างผู้นำการศึกษารุ่นใหม่ที่สามารถขับเคลื่อนระบบสาธารณสุขได้อย่างยั่งยืน
- Digital Transformation & AI: การนำนวัตกรรม AI และแพลตฟอร์มการเรียนรู้ดิจิทัลของ MDCU มาใช้เพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการเรียนการสอน ซึ่งทาง FAIMER ได้แสดงความชื่นชมในฐานะต้นแบบการเรียนรู้สมัยใหม่
- Outcome-Based Education: การมุ่งเน้นระบบการศึกษาที่เน้นผลลัพธ์ (Outcome-based) เพื่อให้มั่นใจว่าการผลิตแพทย์ที่มีคุณภาพจะส่งผลโดยตรงต่อประสิทธิภาพการดูแลรักษาผู้ป่วยทั่วโลก
ทั้งสองสถาบันมีความเห็นร่วมกันว่า การศึกษาแพทยศาสตร์ที่มีคุณภาพสูงมีความเชื่อมโยงโดยตรงกับผลลัพธ์การดูแลรักษาผู้ป่วยที่ดีขึ้น โดยความร่วมมือครั้งนี้มีเป้าหมายขยายไปสู่การพัฒนาการศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา การพัฒนานานาชาติ และโครงการความร่วมมือในอนาคต
“ความร่วมมือกับ FAIMER ในครั้งนี้ ไม่เพียงแต่จะช่วยยกระดับการศึกษาคณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาฯ ให้ก้าวไกลสู่ระดับโลก แต่ยังเป็นการสร้างเครือข่ายความรู้ที่เข้มแข็งเพื่อพัฒนาบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ในภูมิภาคเอเชียอย่างยั่งยืน” รศ.ดร.นพ.จิรุตม์ กล่าว
