MDCU and Taichung Veterans General Hospital Exchange Insights on AI and Digital Health for the Future of Healthcare
Bangkok, Thailand – September 3, 2026
On 3 September 2026, the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University (MDCU), welcomed a delegation from Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TVGH), Taiwan, led by Dr. Yun-Ching Fu, Superintendent, for an academic visit and exchange on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and smart healthcare. The visit was held at the Anandamahidol Building, followed by a tour of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (KCMH). The programme brought together executives, physicians, and specialists from both institutions to exchange perspectives and explore opportunities for future collaboration. The official programme included presentations, collaborative discussion, and a facility tour.
Assoc. Prof. Jiruth Sriratanaban, MD, MBA, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University and Director of KCMH, welcomed the delegation and highlighted AI as a key driver of future healthcare development, while also acknowledging the challenges accompanying its adoption. He noted that AI is already being explored and applied in several areas at MDCU and KCMH, including lifelong learning, ultrasound, and simulation, with the potential to further enhance both clinical and educational practices. Participants included Assoc. Prof. Apirak Santingamkun, MD Associate Professor, Division of Urological Surgery, Department of Surgery, Asst. Prof. Numphung Numkarunarunrote, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology, Dr. Tanawat Tarapan, MD, Instructor, Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Kawintharat Harirugsakul, MD, Instructor, Division of Urological Surgery, Department of Surgery.
Prof. Naricha Chirakalwasan, MD, Associate Dean for International Affairs, presented an overview of MDCU, covering its history, academic programmes, international partnerships, research strengths, Centers of Excellence, and achievements. This was followed by a presentation by Asst. Prof. Watsamon Jantarabenjakul, MD, PhD, Assistant Director for Organizational Development, KCMH, on the hospital’s Digital Transformation Journey. The presentation highlighted KCMH’s transition from traditional systems toward a smart, patient-centred Hospital 5.0, with AI serving as “augmented intelligence” to strengthen clinical and operational capabilities while preserving the essential human touch in healthcare.
Dr. Yun-Ching Fu and his team from Taichung Veterans General Hospital; Dr. Hsin-Hua Chen, Director, Department of Digital Medicine & Deputy Executive Director, Smart Healthcare Committee, Dr. Jian-Ri Li, Director, Department of Urology shared the hospital’s key strengths and development in Telehealth and Smart Hospital Innovation, Digital Health Excellence, CAR-T and Cell Therapy, as well as Nursing and Sustainability Excellence. The exchange provided valuable insights into the development of technology-enabled healthcare and created opportunities for both institutions to learn from each other’s experiences. The delegation included specialists in digital medicine, urology, information technology, and smart healthcare.
The visit concluded with a tour of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, offering the delegation an opportunity to observe clinical operations and healthcare facilities. The visit marked a meaningful platform for strengthening connections between MDCU, KCMH, and Taichung Veterans General Hospital and for exploring future cooperation in AI, digital health, smart healthcare, clinical innovation, and academic exchange.

กรุงเทพมหานคร – 3 กันยายน 2569 คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย (MDCU) ให้การต้อนรับคณะผู้แทนจาก Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TVGH), Taiwan ณ ห้องประชุม 603 ชั้น 6 อาคารอานันทมหิดล เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลและแนวทางการพัฒนาระบบการแพทย์ในอนาคต โดยการพบปะครั้งนี้ประกอบด้วยการนำเสนอข้อมูลของทั้งสองสถาบัน การหารือแนวทางความร่วมมือ และการเยี่ยมชมพื้นที่ภายในโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย
ในการกล่าวต้อนรับ รศ.ดร.นพ.จิรุตม์ ศรีรัตนบัลล์ คณบดี คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และผู้อำนวยการโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย ได้กล่าวถึงบทบาทสำคัญของ Artificial Intelligence (AI) ในการขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนาระบบการแพทย์และโรงพยาบาลในอนาคต โดย AI ไม่เพียงเป็นองค์ประกอบสำคัญของระบบสารสนเทศของโรงพยาบาล แต่ยังนำมาซึ่งความท้าทายใหม่ ๆ ที่บุคลากรทางการแพทย์ต้องเรียนรู้และปรับตัว ทั้งนี้ MDCU และ KCMH ได้นำ AI มาประยุกต์ใช้ในหลายด้าน อาทิ การเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต การตรวจอัลตราซาวด์ และการจำลองสถานการณ์เพื่อการเรียนรู้ทางการแพทย์
ศ.พญ.นฤชา จิรกาลวสาน รองคณบดีด้านวิรัชกิจ ได้นำเสนอภาพรวมของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ทั้งด้านประวัติความเป็นมา หลักสูตรการศึกษา ความร่วมมือกับสถาบันต่างประเทศ งานวิจัย และศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศ ขณะที่ ผศ.ดร.พญ.วรรษมน จันทรเบญจกุล ผู้ช่วยผู้อำนวยการโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ ด้านการพัฒนาองค์กร ได้นำเสนอ Digital Transformation Journey of KCMH สู่การเป็นโรงพยาบาลอัจฉริยะที่มุ่งเน้นผู้ป่วยเป็นศูนย์กลาง หรือ Hospital 5.0 โดยให้ความสำคัญกับแนวคิด “AI as Augmented Intelligence” ซึ่งเป็นการใช้เทคโนโลยีเพื่อเสริมศักยภาพด้านการรักษาพยาบาลและการบริหารจัดการ พร้อมทั้งยังคงให้การสื่อสารและใส่ใจต่อผู้ป่วยเป็นหัวใจสำคัญ
ด้านคณะผู้แทนจาก TVGH นำโดย Dr. Yun-Ching Fu ผู้อำนวยการโรงพยาบาล ได้นำเสนอศักยภาพและแนวทางการพัฒนาโรงพยาบาลในหลายมิติ โดยเฉพาะ Telehealth และ Smart Hospital Innovation, Digital Health Excellence, CAR-T & Cell Therapy Excellence รวมถึง Nursing and Sustainability Excellence สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงแนวทางการผสานเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล นวัตกรรมทางการแพทย์ การดูแลผู้ป่วย และการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนเข้าด้วยกัน
การแลกเปลี่ยนครั้งนี้เป็นอีกหนึ่งเวทีสำคัญในการเปิดมุมมองและสร้างความเข้าใจร่วมกันระหว่างองค์กรโดยเฉพาะในประเด็น AI, Digital Health, Smart Healthcare และนวัตกรรมทางการแพทย์ พร้อมต่อยอดสู่โอกาสความร่วมมือด้านวิชาการ การวิจัย และการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ในอนาคต จากนั้น คณะผู้แทนเยี่ยมชมโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ฯ เพื่อเรียนรู้แนวทางการพัฒนาโรงพยาบาลในบริบทที่แตกต่างกัน
